What is National Science Day?
National Science Day is celebrated in India every year on 28th February to mark the discovery of great phenomena called “Raman Effect” by Sir C.V. Raman on this day in 1928. The discovery won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. The first National Science Day was celebrated in India on 28th February, 1987.

Purpose of the Celebration
The basic objective of the observation of National Science Day is to spread the message of importance of science and its application among the people. National Science Day is celebrated as one of the main science festivals in India every year.

JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research (JISIASR) Kolkata, an initiative of JIS Group under JIS University, is pleased to welcome you all to the program for celebrating National Science Day 2020 on 28th February scheduled at Salt Lake Campus, Arch Waterfront Building (17th Floor), Sector-V, Kolkata-91.

About the Program
To commemorate the great discovery of “Raman Effect” on the occasion of National Science Day 2020, JISIASR Kolkata is organizing the following events:
1. Model display for UG students
2. Poster presentation by PG/PhD students
3. Innovative concept proposal (open to all)
