An alumnus of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engg, IIT Kharagpur (1985) with a brilliant academic record , Mr Debashis Basu is the former Head, of Cognizant Kolkata Centre. He has more than 30+ years of experience in the IT industry, played a multitude of roles from a developer, designer, data architect, DBA, consultant to global delivery head managing complex delivery across multiple geographies and managing P&L.
Mr Basu Has worked as consultant in the US for Fortune 1000 companies and also with 2 of the largest IT outsourcing companies in the world. Last role was Infrastructure Service Global Delivery Head for the Product and Resources group in Cognizant. Additionally, he also headed Cognizant Kolkata Delivery Center.
Specialties: Being part of Infrastructure Services, one of the fastest growing horizontals in Cognizant, his vast experience encompasses the entire gamut of the fast changing landscape of how infrastructure services are delivered today and the future shifts that we would see in the space.
In his prior role, he was instrumental in building the Travel & Hospitality practice from scratch to a business unit with a global clientele base and one of the leaders amongst the peer group of companies.
He has an in-depth understanding of the Travel, Transportation and Hospitality domain. As Kolkata Delivery Center Head, he managed the center and helped grow it to 18,500 people.
Mr Basu represented Cognizant in the various business chambers, notably Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (Managing Committee member, Co-chairman IT sub-committee), AMCHAM (Kolkata Executive Committee member) and CII (IT sub-committee member). He was responsible for working with various government departments to aid in running Cognizant operations in Kolkata.
