Research Interests:
- Na-ion batteries: Na-ion batteries are evolving due to various reasons such as cost, safety and availability. Cathode, anode and electrolyte tuning play an important role for high energy density, power density and long-term cell cyclability. We will explore different battery materials and their application in Na-ion batteries.
- Zn-ion batteries: Zn-ion batteries (ZIBs) are gaining interest due to their low cost, safety and environmental benignity. Bivalent Zn metal shows higher capacity and energy density compared to monovalent elements (e.g., Li, Na) due to involvement of more electrons in redox processes. Metallic Zn shows high capacity and low voltage oxidation and can act as an anode material with different cathodes for Zn-ion batteries. We aim to explore different Zn-ion batteries which are potential materials for energy storage devices.
- Solid electrolytes: Solid electrolytes for SSBs are very important for high voltage Li- and Na-ion batteries. Special attention will be given to structure-transport relationship which can provide insights in the mechanism and guide to obtain novel materials with enhanced performance.
